Fees (from 1st December 2018)

Free Services

There are no fees for some of our services such as benefit checks and basic advice provided over the phone.

If you're not sure whether a fee is payable, please speak to the Welfare Rights Adviser.

No Win No Fee

If you have a reasonable chance of increasing the amount of benefit you're entitled to, the fee will be charged on a No Win No Fee basis. This involves paying an amount based on the extra benefits awarded. It will not become payable until after the benefit decision is made and you receive the backdated benefit owed to you.

If you don't receive any extra benefits, no fee is payable. If you do receive any extra benefits, the fee is 25% (one quarter) of any backdated benefit or one-off payment made to you as a result of the decision. This also includes any backdated amounts or one-off payments of any other benefits that you’re entitled to as a result of this decision.

For example, if we help you claim Personal Independence Payment, this is awarded and you receive a payment of £800 for money you are owed up to that point, the fee will be £200. However, if your claim is turned down and you have to request a mandatory reconsideration before it is awarded and you receive a payment of £1600, the fee would be £400. However, If you have to go to appeal tribunal before it is awarded and you end up receiving a payment of £6000 for what you're owed, the fee would be £1500.

Pay As You Go

If you are unlikely to increase the amount of benefit you're entitled to, the fee will be charged on a Pay As You Go basis. This involves paying a fixed price for each part of the benefit claim process as you go along. It will be payable in advance before each part of the process is started. There will be separate charges for the following:-

  • Completing a claim form or work capability questionnaire

  • Attending a medical assessment

  • Requesting a reconsideration

  • Providing a written submission and/or representing at the appeal hearing

The fee will vary from case to case depending on a number of factors including the benefit involved and the complexity of your case. Please speak to the Welfare Rights Adviser to discuss the fee.

For example, if we helped you to complete a claim form for Attendance Allowance, there would be a fee. This might be £90. If you needed us to attend the medical assessment with you, this would cost an additional amount. This could be £60. If your claim was turned down and we helped you to request a mandatory reconsideration, there would be an additional fee. This might be £90. If your reconsideration was turned down and we assisted you to appeal to an independent tribunal, there would be another charge. This could be £250. So if we helped you through the the whole claim, reconsideration and appeal process, in this example the total fees might come to £490.
